How to Use Spheriq AI and the Prompt Launchers
Spheriq AI supports you directly in your day-to-day work on the platform: when reviewing organizations, researching funding opportunities, improving profiles, summarizing funding criteria, or drafting initial proposals.
You can launch Spheriq AI either via Prompt Launcher or by entering your own question in the chat. Prompt Launchers are pre-written questions or actions that are directly relevant to the current context.
What are prompt launchers?
Prompt launchers are pre-made AI actions. They help you ask a meaningful question without having to come up with the perfect prompt yourself.
Examples of prompt launchers include:
Check the organization's profile
Find grant-making foundations
Steps to earn the next badge
Check for a match
All eligibility criteria at a glance
Whenever possible, the launcher takes the current context into account. For example, if you launch it from an organizational profile, Spheriq AI knows which organization your question refers to.
Where can I find Spheriq AI?
You can find Spheriq AI right on the platform once you're logged in. Depending on the section, relevant launchers will appear where they make sense, for example:
Area | Typical uses |
Organization Profile | Improve your profile, check your matches, earn badges, find grant-making foundations |
My Profile | Improve visibility, completeness, and trust |
Funding organization | Summarize funding criteria, check for eligibility |
Search | Find relevant organizations |
Project | Improve your profile, check your matches, |
Here's how to start a request using a prompt launcher
Open the relevant section on Spheriq, such as your organization's profile or the profile of a funding organization.
Click on the AI logo on the right (the double circle)
Click on the prompt launcher of your choice or on "Custom Prompt"
Spheriq AI retrieves the current context and begins the analysis.
Wait until the answer has been generated. Depending on the task, this may take 1–10 minutes.
Read through the answer and decide if you want to ask any further questions.
Example: When you launch the "Review Organization Profile" tool on your own organization profile, Spheriq AI analyses your profile and shows you specific ways to improve it.
Here's how to ask your own questions
You can use Spheriq AI even without the launcher. Just type your question into the text box below.
Examples:
"How can I improve my organizational profile?"
"Which funding organizations are a good fit for my project?"
“Summarize the eligibility criteria for this foundation for me.”
"What information is missing for the next badge?"
“Check whether this funding organization is a good fit for my organization.”
Make sure to state as clearly as possible what you want to achieve. Good questions lead to better answers.
Good question:
Which funding organizations are a good fit for my project in the field of music education for young people in Switzerland?
Less helpful:
Which foundation is right for you?
What does the context mean?
Spheriq AI takes into account the context you're in. This is particularly important.
When you're on an organization's profile, Spheriq AI can include that organization in its response. If you've selected your own organization, the AI can take that into account as well. This results in responses that aren't just general, but are tailored to your specific situation.
Example:
When you're on a funding organization's profile and click "Check for a match", Spheriq AI will check whether that funding organization might be a good fit for your own organization or project.
How do you interpret the answer?
A response from Spheriq AI usually consists of:
a brief assessment,
a structured justification,
specific next steps,
in some cases a table,
depending on the task, Fit, Hope, or Badge prompts,
Cite sources when documents have been used.
Important: Spheriq AI is designed to assist you in making an assessment. The answer is not a guarantee and does not replace your own review.
What do "Fit" and "Hope" mean?
Spheriq AI uses two indicators, Fit and Hope, to match two organizations.
Automatically calculated values:
Updated values:
Indicator | Meaning |
Fit | Shows how well an organization, a project, or an application meets specific criteria.
|
Hope | Shows reliability indicators that can help with classification.
|
A high match score does not automatically mean that an application will be successful. It simply indicates that, based on the available information, there could be a good match.
What does “Tools” mean in the answer?
Below some answers, you'll see a section listing the tools used. It shows which data sources or internal queries Spheriq AI used to generate the answer.
These could include, for example:
get_organization: Read organization profile
get_project: Read project profile
get_document: Read document
This prompt helps you understand what the answer is based on
What do the "Sources" listed below the answer mean?
If Spheriq AI uses documents in addition to profile information, they will appear at the bottom of the response under Sources.
For example, there you'll see:
the document name,
the file type,
the language,
a brief summary,
the associated organization or project.
This way, you can check which documents were included in the response.
Can I ask more questions after the first answer?
Yes. Once you've received a reply, you can continue working in the chat.
For example, you could write:
“Sum that up more briefly.”
“Which three points are the most important?”
"Use that to draft an email."
“Compare the first two hits.”
"What information should I add next?"
"Explain the eligibility criteria to me in simpler terms."
Spheriq AI stays on topic and can build on the previous response.
What happens when information is missing?
If important information is missing, Spheriq AI should let you know. It can only work with information that is available and accessible to you.
Examples of missing information:
No projects listed in the profile,
no people listed,
No current documents available,
No funding criteria available,
no information on target groups or areas of impact,
No matching search results.
In such cases, Spheriq AI will usually provide guidance on what information you need to add.
What data can Spheriq AI use?
Spheriq AI can only use information that you have access to. Depending on the context, this includes:
Public organization profiles
your own organization and project profiles
Documents that are accessible in the relevant context
Funding criteria
your own lists
Search results
Information on grant applications, provided you are eligible, whether as a funder (grant recipient) or a nonprofit (grant applicant)
Important: The AI can't see any more than you're allowed to see on the platform.
Will my data be used for training purposes?
No. Spheriq AI is designed so that your data is not used to train general AI models.
Processing takes place in a secure environment. Spheriq AI operates on a role- and context-based system, ensuring that sensitive information is used only where it is accessible and relevant.
What functions do these new AI assistants replace?
The existing AI assistants are still available for now, but will gradually be replaced by Spheriq AI and the new prompt launchers.
Previous AI assistant | Prompt Launcher on Spheriq AI |
Project profile from PDF | Project Profile Prompt: Design a project profile based on the attached dossier. |
Cover letter for an application | Project profile prompt: Write a cover letter for a grant application to [Funding Foundation]. |
Improve Project Profile | Launcher "Improve Project Profile" |
Magic List | Launcher: "Find Granting Foundations" |
If you're already familiar with the previous wizards, you can use the new launchers as a guide. They perform similar tasks but are more deeply integrated into the platform.
Why does it sometimes take longer to get a response?
Spheriq AI doesn't just rely on a generic chat model. Depending on the task, it first assesses the context, retrieves relevant data, analyses profiles or documents, and only then formulates a response.
This may take a little longer, but it ensures more specific and easier-to-understand results.
What should you always check yourself?
Please always review AI-generated responses carefully before using them.
It is especially important to check the following yourself:
Requests
Funding decisions
official correspondence
Profile Information
Financial Information
legal or strategic assessments
Information about individuals or sensitive topics
Spheriq AI helps you get ready. You or your organization remain responsible for decisions and published content.
Tips for getting good results
If possible, start with a suitable prompt launcher.
Work in the right context, such as on the appropriate profile or project.
Ask specific questions.
Fill in any missing information in your profile so that Spheriq AI has a better foundation to work with.
Check sources and documents when they are displayed.
Use follow-up questions to shorten answers, delve deeper into them, or structure them in a specific format.
Don't rely solely on AI-generated answers when making important decisions.
